I need some Fairy Dust...

Well, if anyone follows this blog (Kaitlyn!) you must be aware that I am not doing cakes as frequently as last year. Last August I started working full time and quite a distance away so my cakes have been put on hold.

Until my daughter's birthday. I asked her so sweetly, Michaela, "do you want to go and pick out a birthday cake?" And she even more sweetly answered back, "No Mommy, I want you to make it, and I would like Tinkerbell and lots of layers please."

This was the first year we also did the family party AND the friend party. So we compromised and for the friend party, we made cupcakes and for the family party, we made a single tier cake with all of her favorite fairies. And even getting that done in time was tough. If only I had some pixie dust! Stay tuned, Matthew's birthday is this month and it is the same story, different theme!

From Doctors to Carpenters!

My friend Dawn asked me to make a cake for her godson for his 2nd birthday. The theme was Daddy's Little Helper with tools and a toolbox. The toolbox is cake frosted with buttercream, the tools are all chocolate.

Hey Doc, what's in the bag?

A friend's daughter graduated from med school and she wanted a doctor's bag cake. The cake was covered in fondant with some thinned piping gel to give it some shine. Everything is edible.

Hey Sports Fans!

This was a fun cake to make. The cake is covered in buttercream with chocolate stars. The cake topper is all fondant.
